"The Hearing and Balance Center (HBC) in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center implemented the AudBase system in 2005.  The Center operates in an academic medical center, with a three-fold mission: clinical care, education and research.  The Center can be fast-paced, which can potentially increase error rates in documenting the results of diagnostic testing, which can impact clinical care.  Furthermore, regulatory oversight in our setting makes accurate documentation essential.  The AudBase system facilitates accuracy in documenting and reporting test results.  The HBC receives referrals locally from geographically remote location; readable documentation is an important component of our clinical service.  AudBase produces an easy-to-read audiogram and report with sufficient reporting space.  AudBase also facilitates education and research.  Report templates are comprehensive, and allow for consistency and accuracy when working with audiology interns.  From the perspective of quality control and research, the data searching capabilities of the system enable us to quickly identify patients who are being seen for specific problems (e.g., patients coming to the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Program) so that we can implement follow-up and/or conduct retrospective studies of population characteristics or treatment outcome.  The Department of Otorhinolaryngology audiologists highly recommend the AudBase system"
